Connecticut requires both parents to complete a 6-hour parenting education program in divorce, custody, and other family law cases involving minor children under CT Gen. Stat. § 46b-69b. The court shall order participation unless parties agree not to participate (with court approval), the court determines it's unnecessary, or parties select a comparable program. You must complete the program within 60 days of the return day or filing date per CT Practice Book § 25-5(6).
The class covers developmental stages of children, adjustment to parental separation, dispute resolution and conflict management, visitation guidelines, stress reduction in children, and cooperative parenting as required by § 46b-69b(a).
